Friday We depart early in the morning and travel to the maritime city of Bristol where there is time to follow a Banksy trail, peruse the harbourside or perhaps visit the SS Great Britain. Later we continue on to our hotel in time to settle in before dinner.

Saturday Today we spend the whole day at the Chelsea Flower Show. Each year the RHS offer a phenomenal show giving the opportunity to enjoy modern and inventive gardens, new plants and ingenious new products. We return to the hotel for dinner and an evening of leisure.

Sunday This morning we visit Savill Garden. A natural haven of beautifully designed gardens and woodland. The 35 interconnected acres include the Hidden Gardens, Spring Wood, the Summer Gardens, the New Zealand Garden, Summer Wood, The Glades, Autumn Wood and the Winter Beds. During the afternoon we begin our return journey to Cornwall.

Itinerary

Sunday We leave Cornwall early in the morning and travel to Dover where we board an afternoon ferry for Calais. We then travel onto The Altia Hotel, Lille for an overnight stay.

Monday Our coach will take us through France and into Germany. On arrival in Cologne we board the MS Arena and enjoy a welcome reception and dinner. Later in the evening the ship sails for Rudesheim.    

Tuesday Relax on board as we cruise through the Rhine Gorge past the legendary Lorelei. In the afternoon we arrive at the quaint wine town of Rudesheim where we include a ride on the local land train, admission to Siegfrieds Mechanical Museum and cable car ride to Niederwald monument. In the evening the ship sails for Speyer. 

Wednesday This morning we arrive in the charming town of Speyer. Easily explored on foot, Speyer has a magnificent Romanesque Cathedral, as well as an abundance of museums and the remains of a medieval Synagogue. We include a visit to the Speyer Technical Museum which houses vintage cars, locomotives and an original Boeing 747 Jumbo Jet. In the afternoon we sail overnight to Strasbourg. 

Thursday Today we sail into the magnificent city of Strasbourg, well known for its world heritage status. Enjoy some free time to explore the main sights at leisure or take a walk around the old city. Whilst here we enjoy a cruise along Strasbourg’s waterways, which is a great way to see the city. We return to the ship for lunch and a late afternoon sailing to Basel. 

Friday On arrival in the old University City of Basel we have a coach excursion to the Swiss resort of Lucerne. This scenic journey travels through the Jura Mountains, before arriving at Lucerne – the historic and scenic heart of Switzerland. Tonight we sail overnight to Breisach. 

Saturday This morning we arrive into Breisach, where the Black Forest meets the Alsace. We take an excursion into the beautiful Alsace, stopping at the little village of Riquewihr where we enjoy wine tasting at the famous Dopff & Irion vineyard. We sail for Mannheim overnight. 

Sunday We cruise to the river port of Mannheim and meet our coach for a guided tour of the majestic city of Heidelberg, home of Germany’s oldest university. We return to our ship for lunch onboard as we cruise to Mainz where we arrive later this afternoon. Mainz is situated at the confluence of the Rhine and Main Rivers and has been the capital of the German federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate since 1946. We include a guided walking tour of the pretty pedestrian precincts and entrance to the Gutenberg Museum. This evening we enjoy our final night onboard as we set sail for Cologne. 

Monday We disembark the ship in Cologne and make our way back to Lille for an overnight stay at the Altia Hotel. 

Tuesday After breakfast we travel to Calais and board the ferry back to the UK. We arrive home in the evening.

Saturday After breakfast we board our coach to travel into London. There will be a short sightseeing tour of a few famous sights before free time in either Covent Garden or the Hyde Park area. There will be time to explore the city and dine before our coach returns us to our hotel.

Thursday We depart Cornwall in the morning and travel to Reading arriving in time to settle in before dinner.

Friday Oxford will be todays destination and on arrival we enjoy a two hour walking guide. The city is famed for its magnificent history and the presence of Oxford University.  After our tour there will be free time to have lunch, take a river punt or explore independently. 

Saturday Today we visit the magnificent Waddesdon Manor, built for Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild to display his collections and entertain the fashionable world. During our time here we enjoy free time in the house, a two course light lunch and a guided tour of Waddesdon Manor Garden.

Sunday Our morning will be spent in the famous riverside town of Henley-on-Thames. Famous for its regatta, the pretty market town has a number of excellent attractions to enjoy. After lunch we return to our hotel and take a short stroll to Caversham Pier for a thirty minute cruise on the Thames.   

Monday After breakfast we make our way back to Cornwall arriving home during the evening.

Monday We travel to Shropshire arriving at our hotel later in the day to a welcome hot drink and biscuits.

Tuesday This morning we visit the National Memorial Arboretum at Alrewas. This impressive site has 150 acres, over 300 emotive memorials and an abundance of nature and wildlife. We include a guided audio tour by land train to get the best out of our visit. Later in the day we have time in the historic city of Lichfield. 

Wednesday Our first visit today is to a town steeped in legend where Wales meets England. The market town of Oswestry will be plying its fayre to people from both sides of ‘the Marches’. Later we visit Shrewsbury which is packed with timber framed black and white buildings. Here we enjoy a peaceful cruise on the River Severn.  

Thursday We visit the impressive Ironbridge Gorge where the world’s first iron bridge forms the centre of this World Heritage Site. After time in the village we make our way to Blists Hill Victorian town. This bustling recreation of a victorian town allows us to discover a life gone by. 

Friday After breakfast we leave Telford and travel back to Cornwall.

In the afternoon we have a visit to Dorchester, the once home of Thomas Hardy. 

Thursday After a leisurely breakfast we leave the Fairhaven Hotel and make our way to the regency town of Sidmouth where there will be time for lunch before we travel back to Cornwall.
