Ireland always offers a very warm welcome along with all of the delights that you would expect from a land full of charm and endless beauty. Discover its appeal on a tour that visits some of the most beautiful places in this special Country and gives a taste of what the unspoilt Ireland really has to offer. The River Island is a hotel that welcomes us back every year and unfailingly offers our passengers a homely haven, centrally located in the vibrant market town of Castleisland.

Itinerary

Wednesday We make an early start from Cornwall to catch the Irish Ferry from Pembroke to Rosslare in the afternoon. We complete the journey to Waterford and Dooleys Hotel for our first night and Dinner, Bed and breakfast.

Thursday We have a leisurely start to our day today. We will begin by travelling to Blarney and including a visit to the Castle to take part in the tradition of kissing the Blarney Stone. You will also have time to visit the Blarney Woollen Mill close to the village green offering an excellent range of genuine Irish products. We will then make our way to the River Island Hotel at Castleisland, our base for the next 3 nights.

Friday A guided day excursion to the beautiful Ring of Kerry, 100 miles of spectacular scenery around the Iveragh Penninsula dominated by Mac Gillcuddys Reeks. You will enjoy the fabulous views of Dingle Bay and the Penninsula beyond before we travel on to Waterville at Derryvane overlooking Ballinskelligs Bay. This mystical & unspoilt region of Ireland has attracted visitors for hundreds of years. Its spectacular beauty is beyond question and the area offers an important insight into ancient heritage of Ireland.

Saturday A full day excursion to Killarney set in the Irish Lake District and internationally renowned for its scenic beauty. The most popular way to learn about the town and its lakes is to take a jaunting car ride or boat cruise on the lake. The Tangney family have been running these excursions from the centre of Killarney for five generations. The tour runs through the Killarney Natural Park and along the edge of Lough Leane to Ross Castle. From here you can catch the “Lilly of Killarney” to cruise along the lake, a memorable way to view the surrounding mountains. Back in town, St Mary’s Cathedral is well worth a visit and also leave plenty of time for lunch and exploring the quaint and colorful streetscapes that make up the town centre.

Sunday Today we depart Castleisland and travel to Cork which like Venice has grown from a series of islands into a cosmopolitan city. You will have free time for shopping and lunch before continuing our journey along the coast to Dungarvan, a beautiful seaside market town. You will have time to visit Dungarven Castle or just relax at one of the harbour-side cafes. We then continue our journey to the Maldron Hotel, Wexford for our final night in Ireland.

Monday After a good breakfast we make our return journey on the morning ferry from Rosslare to Pembroke arriving home in Cornwall late Evening.

The coastal region of Catalonia offers over 400kms of beautiful coastline and ‘guaranteed’ sunshine. The Costa Brava stretches from the French border at Cerbere to the fishing town of Blanes, and includes many beautiful towns and villages. Lloret de Mar boasts the most exuberant atmosphere to be found on the Costa Brava with its long sandy beaches, vast selection of shops, cafes, bars and restaurants and a traditional Catalan weekly market. When the sun goes down Lloret really comes to life with a fabulous assortment of after-dark entertainment. Our carefully selected hotel is the 3star Aquarium Hotel which is situated about 1km from the centre of Lloret de Mar and only 300 metres from the beach and close to shops, bars and restaurants. This hotel has been popular with our clients for many years due to its great situation and extensive facilities including spacious bar, television lounge, sauna, fitness room, sunbathing terrace (with free loungers), swimming pool and regular evening entertainment.
Itinerary

Saturday Departing in the early hours of Saturday morning, we travel to Dover for the ferry crossing to Calais, then onwards through France to our overnight hotel at Dijon for dinner, bed & breakfast.

Sunday We continue our journey through France and over the border into Spain. Travelling South along the coastal road to the resort of Lloret de Mar, which is situated on the Costa Brava for six nights dinner, bed & breakfast.

Monday Our first day in the resort is at leisure, a chance to familiarise yourself with the many hotel facilities and a chance to explore the immediate surroundings.

Tuesday A morning excursion to “Tossa De Mar”. Surrounded by medieval walls and seven machicolated towers is The Villa Vella (old quarter) which includes the remains of 14th century gothic church and the Governor’s Palace. Villa Nova (modern town) stretches along the seafront. Further along the coast are tourist resorts such as the coves of Salionc, Giverola, Pola and Llevador, and Llorell and Cala Morisca beaches. The Shrine of Sant Grau, perched among the hills further inland is a splendid lookout point over the coast.

Wednesday This morning we have a break from the beach and travel to Gerona for a morning excursion. You will have time to wander around the cool, narrow streets which boast a well preserved Jewish quarter and a medieval cathedral. As this city is small it is very easy to explore and get a feel of the intriguing history preserved for all to peruse within the boundaries of its famous city walls.

Thursday Our journey today takes us to the magnificent city of Barcelona. Located on the Mediterranean Coast this impressive city is considered to be a global treasure and has therefore been awarded World Heritage status. Here we will have a morning guided coach tour of the Gaudi and Montjuic areas of the city before having a brief walking tour of the famous Gothic Quarter. You will see the beautiful corners, historic places and buildings that this gothic city is most famous for. In the afternoon you will be free to wander the streets and enjoy some free time to explore the parts of this area that most appeal to you.

Friday We will have a full day excursion to the beautiful resort of Roses today. Located just 30 miles south of the French border, it is considered to be the tourist capital of the Northern Costa Brava. The origins of this quaint fishing town are still alive today in the form of an authentic fish auction in the harbour every weekday.

Saturday Today we have to leave ‘Lloret de Mar’ to travel back through France, making our way to our overnight hotel in Reims for dinner, bed & breakfast.

Sunday Leaving our hotel after breakfast, we will then make our way to Calais for our return ferry crossings to Dover. We will then proceed with our journey back to Cornwall, arriving home late evening.

This luxury break takes us to the beautiful Longleat House for a VIP visit that invites us to explore areas of the house not normally open to the public. Your guide will reveal to you some of the hidden secrets of this fine house as well as showing you the delights that have awed so many visitors over the years. In keeping with the ‘grand’ theme we are staying at the four star Grand Hotel in the centre of Bristol. This lovely hotel is not only in an excellent location but also offers tastefully decorated rooms and full leisure facilities including an indoor pool.

Itinerary

Sunday Departing from Cornwall in the morning we travel to Dorset and break our journey with a visit to Montacute House and gardens. Here you will have time to discover all of the features that this glittering mansion is famous for including the Long Gallery, samplers from the Goodhart collection and Montacute’s famous wobbly hedges in its formal gardens. During the afternoon we will travel on through Shepton Mallett and the beautiful Somerset countryside towards Bristol and our base for the next two nights.

Monday Today we visit Longleat House, home to the 7th marquis of Bath. Whilst here we will explore not only the main rooms but also the servants passageways as we learn how such an enormous house is run. If we are lucky we will get to see a selection of Lord Baths famous and fabulous murals which reflect his rather eccentric personality. At lunchtime we will have Bangers and Mash in the Cellar Cafe, desert will follow. We will make our way back to the hotel and the afternoon will be free in Bristol to spend as you wish. In recent years Bristol has developed into a cutting edge city and offers a wealth of attractions for visitors including theatre, museums, malls and the popular harbour side including SS Great Briton.

Tuesday After a leisurely breakfast we bid our hotel farewell and start our return journey. We will stop for lunch on the way home in Wells, Britains smallest city sitting at the foot of the Mendip Hills. Today is Market Day and stalls with a variety of wares line the streets as they have done for centuries. You will have time to peruse the wares and have a bite to eat before continuing our journey. We will arrive home early in the evening.
