A new tour for 2012 combining an excellent choice of attractions, ranging from the historic S.S.Great Britain in Maritime Bristol to the nostalgic sounds of the Gloucestershire-Warwickshire Railway. As we visit these attractions we will enjoy the wonderful scenery of the Cotswolds countryside.
Set in 30 acres of beautiful Wiltshire countryside, the four star family run Best Western Premier Blunsdon House Hotel has extensive leisure facilities including indoor swimming pool. All rooms have the modern facilities you would expect from a hotel of this standard. The hotel has a lift.
Itinerary
Thursday We travel from Cornwall to Wiltshire where we will settle in to our hotel before dinner.
Friday Our excursion today takes us along Pewsey Vale to the Wiltshire town of Devizes and a visit to the excellent Visitor Centre at the famous Wadworth Brewery. From here we travel to the spa town of Bath to enjoy free time. Bath presents some of the finest architectural sights in Europe as well as a diverse collection of museums.
Saturday Today we make for the historic maritime City of Bristol. We visit the magnificently restored steamship S.S. Great Britain, now permanently moored here. Built by Isambard Kingdom Brunel the ship is the world’s first great ocean liner, taking migrants to Australia. This afternoon is free for you to explore Bristol Harbourside.
Sunday This morning we head along the Vale of White Horse to the Oxfordshire town of Witney where we take a break. We continue through the Cotswolds villages to delightful Broadway for our lunch break. This afternoon we enjoy a ride on the Gloucestershire-Warwickshire Railway to Regency Cheltenham, with its distinct and beautiful architecture and range of unique retailers.
Monday After enjoying a good breakfast we will make our way home to Cornwall arriving home early evening.
