BRITTANY & THE EMERALD COAST

Northern Brittany has some of the most scenic coastlines in France and is a true delight to discover. This tour is based at the small resort of Sables d’Ir les Pins which is famous for its golden sandy beach. As well as exploring the Pink Granite and Emerald coasts we will have time to relax and enjoy the French way of life.

The three star Hotel De Diane is set just 200 metres from the beach on the north Brittany coast. The traditional Breton hotel has a popular restaurant, bar, patio garden & sun terrace. All rooms have good facilities and there is a lift to all floors.

Itinerary

Sunday We have an early start to catch the morning ferry from Plymouth to Roscoff for our day crossing on the Amorique. Once in France we will travel to our hotel arriving late in the afternoon.

Monday The fortress town of St Malo will be today’s destination. This charming Breton Port is one of the most popular destinations in Brittany and is famed for its impressive ramparts and narrow street charm. Whilst here we will have a 90 minute guided walking tour where our guide will bring the past to life for us. We will also make a visit to the fishing town of Cancale today, the oyster capital of Brittany.

Tuesday We will explore the Pink Granite Coast today and include a boat trip to the Flowers Islands of Brehat. The coast takes its name from the impressive pinkish coloured rocks that contrast beautifully with the rich blue of the sea.

Wednesday
After a leisurely breakfast we will enjoy a morning excursion to the walled town of Dinan. The atmospheric Old Town with its cobbled streets, craft shops and half-timbered houses from the 13th and 14th century are delightful to explore. In the afternoon you will have free time in Sables d’or Les Pins to enjoy the beach or explore the resort.

Thursday
Our last full day will be filled with a visit to Mont St Michel and its famous Abbey. This picturesque medieval settlement sits on an island at the mouth of the River Couesnon. Access to the island is by causeway and the whole island is dominated by an imposing Benedictine abbey. You can wander through the cobbled streets, take a walk along the ramparts or visit one of the fascinating museums. Please note that there is a 20min inclined walk to the Abbey from coach park.

Friday A relaxing breakfast and a leisurely start to the day as we say goodbye to our hotel. We will depart later in the morning and have free time for lunch in the historic port town of Morlaix. We will then make our way to Roscoff for our return ferry. We will arrive back in Cornwall late in the evening.
