The beauty of the Lake District is timeless with its vast lakes and dramatic, rugged scenes. Our journeys will take us not only to the popular destinations but also to some of the vastly unseen gems situated in areas unreachable by coach.
Our base will be the three star Cumbria Grand Hotel. Pleasantly situated in 20 acres of gardens overlooking Morecombe Bay, this popular hotel offers comfortable rooms with good facilities. The hotel has a lift to all floors. Entertainment will be provided on two evenings and the evening meals are served carvery style.
Itinerary
Monday We depart Cornwall in the morning and travel to the The Lake District. We will arrive at our hotel in time for dinner. There will be a welcome drink on arrival.
Tuesday We travel to Bowness on Windermere. You will have free time to explore the town, stroll lakeside or take a cruise. We also have a scenic tour through the Lake District National Park to Keswick and Derwent Water.
Wednesday Today we swap our coach for the Mountain Goat minibus fleet and their entertaining guides as we take to the smaller roads and visit the Western Lake District. We travel over steep passes to Hardknott Roman Fort and see the spectacular view to the mountains. We also take a ride on the famous miniature Ravenglass and Eskdale railway and visit Muncaster Castle gardens and World Owl Trust. The beautiful scenery of the Coniston Fells and Coniston Water bring to an end this classic of all Lake District tours.
Thursday Today we have a beautiful scenic tour of the Yorkshire Dales National Park seeking out some of the most stunning scenery that Yorkshire has to offer.
Friday We depart Grange-over-Sands and make the return journey home arriving in Cornwall mid evening.
