This new tour to Galway explores the Irish ‘City of Tribes’ and the beautiful wilderness of Connemara. With ancient myths and legends to uncover, amazing landscapes to explore and locals who will be more than happy to reveal their hidden gems, this Irish holiday promises to be a true Celtic delight.
Our main base will be the four star Menlo Park Hotel. This award winning hotel combines old fashioned hospitality with modern facilities. All rooms have television, hospitality trays and ensuite bathrooms with power shower. The hotel has a lift.
Itinerary
Sunday We make an early start and travel to Pembroke for our afternoon ferry to Rosslare. Once on Irish turf we make our way to our overnight stop, the excellent Dooleys Hotel, Waterford.
Monday After our Irish breakfast we will have free time to enjoy Ireland’s oldest city, Waterford. You will have time to visit the impressive new House of Waterford Crystal, explore the Historic Quarter or perhaps take a walking tour of the city walls. Early in the afternoon we will begin our journey to Galway arriving in plenty of time to settle in before dinner.
Tuesday Today you will have free time in Galway. Sitting at the mouth of the bay the city is both picturesque and cultural and its winding streets have distinct medieval architecture. In the afternoon we join the Corrib Princess for a ninety minute cruise including afternoon tea. This scenic cruise will be accompanied by a full and fascinating commentary.
Wednesday A scenic tour of the Connemara Park will be our destination for the day. We will travel around this beautiful area and enjoy the mountainous scenery and roaming ponies. During the day we will visit the thriving town of Clifden and the idyllic Kylemore Abbey.
Thursday We say goodbye to Galway and travel through the heart of Ireland to Wexford. We will enjoy time in the peaceful riverside town of Carlow. Here you will have time to follow the heritage trail or enjoy the town’s history at the county museum. Later in the day we will make our way to The Maldron Hotel at Wexford for our final overnight stop.
Friday After an early breakfast we travel the short distance to Rosslare and board the ferry to begin our return journey. We will arrive back in Cornwall later in the evening
