The Isle of Man is a beautiful Island with breathtakingly diverse scenery, unspoilt beaches and a relaxed pace of life. This pint sized island is just 32 miles long and getting around is a delight whether by steam railway, horse drawn tram or electric railway which gives magnificent coastal views. We base our tour in Douglas, the hub of the island and a delightful town with a sweeping Victorian promenade.
The Empress Hotel has a prominent promenade position, just a short walk from the town centre. It is noted for being one of the best hotels on the island. All rooms have excellent facilities and there is a lift in the hotel.
Itinerary
Monday We travel from Cornwall to the Preston area where we have an overnight stop at a three star hotel.
Tuesday After a leisurely breakfast we will travel the short distance to Heysham for our ferry to The Isle of Man.
Wednesday We will travel to Laxey this morning, where we include a visit to the famous Laxey Waterwheel. Following this we board the Snaefell Mountain Railway to travel to the summit where on a clear day you can see all six kingdoms.
Thursday Today we will have a guided tour of the island with a local guide who will reveal the fascinating secrets of the area. During the day we will also include a visit to the Cragneash living museum.
Friday Your last day will be free to relax and enjoy your immediate surroundings or perhaps use the excellent but traditional public transport system to revisit the parts of the island you enjoyed most. The Isle of Man Steam Railway provides a relaxing and nostalgic way to explore.
Saturday Sadly it’s time to say goodbye to The Empress Hotel and board our ferry for the mainland. We will arrive back to Cornwall later in the evening.
