For many years Longleat has been so much more than just a remarkable stately home. It is now one of Britains most loved attractions and truly has got something to offer everyone. On this short break we combine this visit with a range of other lovely places in the area including the beautiful New Forest and the ancient city of Winchester.
Set within the beautiful rolling chalk hills of the Hampshire countryside the four star new generation Holiday Inn Winchester offers a high level of contemporary comfort. All rooms have air-conditioning, desks and flat screen televisions. There is a lift in the hotel.
Itinerary
Friday We leave Cornwall in the morning and travel to The Fleet Air Arm museum at Yeovil where we have free time to discover more about the flying arm of The Royal Navy. There are a wide variety of exhibitions including WW2 planes, Womens RN Service and the first British built Concorde. Following this we will make our way to Winchester and settle into our hotel.
Saturday Today we have a full day at the extensive Longleat attraction. Your passport ticket allows all day enjoyment of the house and park as well as a tour of the safari park. Take a boat ride past Nico’s island on a lake with hippo’s and sea lions, stroll the maze, discover the butterfly house, ride the train and wander the rooms of Longleat House in the hope of getting a glimpse of the eccentric Marquiss of Bath.
Sunday The New Forest will be our destination today. We will explore this beautiful natural area and enjoy a visit to the lovely town of Lyndhurst. Later in the day we will return to Winchester where you will have some time free to enjoy this ancient city. Walk the walls, visit Jane Austen’s house or see the legendary Arthurian Round Table housed at The Great Hall.
Monday After a good breakfast we leave Winchester and travel to Poole. Home to the largest natural harbour in the world, this beautiful town is known as ‘the coast with the most’. After lunch we will make the return journey back to Cornwall arriving in the evening.
