The beautiful county of Norfolk has more than its fair share of England’s great houses as well as vast areas of beautiful countryside and impressive coastlines. We visit two of the best homes in the area including Her Majesty’s retreat at Sandringham, as well as enjoying some of the traditional delights of the county.
We will be staying at the very stylish three star Holiday Inn Norwich, just a fifteen minute walk from the city centre, offering a superb restaurant, choice of menu and great hospitality.
Itinerary
Friday Departing Cornwall in the morning we make our way to Norwich and arrive with time to settle in before dinner.
Saturday Following a leisurely breakfast we will make our way to the coast and enjoy our morning in the traditional seaside town of Great Yarmouth. In the afternoon we will travel along the coast to Lowestoft where the inner harbour divides the town and brings the ships right into its heart.
Sunday We have a visit today to the country retreat of Her Majesty the Queen. Sandringham is an exceptional place to visit, with knowledgeable guides in every room of the house and acres of beautiful gardens to explore. In the afternoon we travel to nearby Heacham and Norfolk Lavender, home to the famous lavender fields, lavender oil distillery and museum.
Monday This morning we will travel to Blickling Hall. The estate is a treasure trove of romantic buildings, beautiful and extensive gardens and landscaped park. In the afternoon you will have free time in Norwich, the most complete medieval city in England.
Tuesday Today we have a relaxing day in The Broads. We begin with a boat cruise from Wroxham on the beautiful waterways. During the afternoon we visit Wroxham Barns before making our return journey via the pretty Broads villages.
Wednesday We sadly leave our hotel and head for home. We will arrive back to Cornwall during the evening.
