Autumn on The Isle of Wight is a delightful time due to its mild climate and and many attractions it is an ideal location for an Autumn Break. Many of the islands hidden secrets are discovered on this beautiful tour.
Our hotel, the two star family run Melbourne Ardenlea is ideally situated, just a five minute walk from the beach and Shanklin Old Village. All rooms have television, tea/coffee making facilities and telephone. The hotel has an indoor swimming pool, spa, sauna, lift and entertainment most evenings.
Itinerary
Monday Departing from Cornwall during the morning we travel to Lymington for the short ferry crossing to Yarmouth and on to our hotel arriving with time to settle before dinner.
Tuesday A full day excursion ‘Around the Island’ taking in the dramatic variations of the islands geology, with time to admire the unique coloured sands of Alum Bay. Many of the islands hidden secrets are discovered on this beautiful journey.
Wednesday Today we visit Ryde with fine Georgian and Victorian buildings, grand esplanade and attractive sea front. This popular seaside holiday resort is often known as ‘gateway to the island’ and boasts the second longest railway pier and the only hovercraft service in the country. Whilst here we include a visit to the impressive Waltzing Waters performance.
Thursday Today we spend a full day in the island’s capital. Situated at the base of river Medina, Newport has a bustling shopping centre, local market and a quay where the Bus Museum and Vintage Boat Museum can be found. In the afternoon you will have a chance to visit the imposing castle at Carisbrooke, where King Charles 1 was imprisoned.
Friday After a good breakfast we depart our hotel for the short drive to Yarmouth where we board the ferry to Lymington and return journey to Cornwall arriving home mid evening.
