The beautiful resort of Eastbourne sitting on the East Sussex coast is a popular holiday destination and a lovely base from which to explore a county filled with interesting attractions. As well as touring the area we also have time to enjoy the town it’s self with the long regency style promenade, magnificent bandstand and traditional pier.
The two star centrally situated Haddon Hall hotel has been run by the Laughton family for over 20 years and a personal welcome, efficient service and great food are guaranteed. Rooms are well furnished with lift access.
Itinerary
Saturday We travel from Cornwall to Eastbourne where we settle into our hotel before dinner.
Sunday The beautiful Sheffield Park Gardens will delight us today. The magnificent informal landscape garden was laid out in the 18th century by ‘Capability’ Brown and has continued to develop over the years. We also include a return journey on the Bluebell Railway.
Monday Today you will enjoy a day at leisure to explore the town, pier and beaches.
Tuesday After breakfast we have a morning visit to Royal Tunbridge Wells and the opportunity for an early lunch before travelling the short distance to Hever Castle and Gardens. This Romantic 13th century moated castle, once Anne Boleyn’s childhood home, is now a delight to thousands of visitors each year and its award winning gardens are a must.
Wednesday We will step back in time with a tour of 1066 country. We begin at Hastings, nestling between the East and West Hills, the Old Town is a charming mix of half-timbered houses, narrow streets and passageways, locally known as ‘twittens’. Finally we visit Battle, the place where the Normans eventually triumphed over King Harold.
Thursday Today we drive along the coast to the popular resort of Brighton allowing time to visit ‘The Lanes’, the historic quarter of Brighton, a maze of narrow alleyways lined with antique shops and elegant arcades.
Friday Your final day at resort will be free to revisit your favourite aspects of Eastbourne.
Saturday Sadly it’s time to say goodbye to Eastbourne and travel back to Cornwall arriving home during the evening.
