WEYMOUTH & THE DORSET COAST

The popular resort of Weymouth is renowned for its beautiful bay and golden sands. The pretty 17th century harbour is home to a small fishing fleet which mixes happily with visiting yachts in the summer. Situated on the Jurassic Coastline Weymouth is a highly popular south coast holiday destination.

The two star Fairhaven Hotel is ideally situated overlooking Weymouth Bay and always gives our passengers a very warm welcome. All rooms are comfortably furnished with television, telephone and tea/coffee making facilities. A lift serves all floors & the hotel offers regular entertainment.

Itinerary

Monday We depart during the morning and travel along the coast to the Victorian town of Sidmouth where you will have time to enjoy a leisurely lunch or stroll along the lovely promenade. Later in the afternoon we will continue our journey to Weymouth arriving in time to settle in before dinner.

Tuesday A day excursion along the coast as we visit the beautiful resorts of Bournemouth and Poole. This seaside town is known not only for its long sandy beaches and many attractions but also for its grade two listed gardens which run for three kilometres through the centre of the town. Later in the day we travel to nearby Poole with its famous natural harbour.

Wednesday We visit the county town of Dorchester which is proud to be set firmly on the ‘Thomas Hardy Trail’ as the author was born and raised in the area. During the afternoon we visit Sherborne, one of the most beautiful towns in England with its impressive medieval buildings and imposing Abbey.

Thursday Today is at leisure to explore Weymouth. You can relax by the beach, visit the town or enjoy a boat trip along the Jurassic Coast. The traditional Old Harbour is set in the heart of this vibrant town and offers plenty to see and do at any time of the day and year.

Friday
Following breakfast we drive the short distance along the coast to “Abbotsbury” where we include a visit to the unique Swannery. Set up by Benadictine monks in the 1040’s, this is the only place in the world where you are able to walk through the heart of a colony of nesting Mute Swans and get a fascinating insight into their lives. Later in the day we commence our return journey to Cornwall arriving home early evening.
