Portsmouth is an intriguing mixture of history and heritage with its rich maritime past and it is fast becoming one of the UKs favourite holiday destinations. We base the tour in the traditionally Victorian resort of Southsea and take in a collection of south coast classics including a day trip to the Isle of Wight.
Situated adjacent to the beach in Southsea, the three star Best Western Royal Beach Hotel offers superb views across the Solent. All rooms have tea/coffee facilities, TV, telephone and radio. The hotel has a lift.
Itinerary
Sunday We travel from Cornwall to Southsea and settle into The Best Western Royal Beach before dinner.
Monday Our day begins with a morning visit to the seaside town of Bognor Regis, reputed to be Britains sunniest town. Once a traditional fishing village the town is now famous for being a popular holiday destination and its parks are a floral delight that must be seen. In the afternoon we will visit Chichester with its Norman Cathedral, 13th century priory and impressive harbour.
Tuesday We board a ferry this morning and cross the solent to the Isle of Wight. We will have a tour of the island and see some of the wonderful sights it has to offer.
Wednesday Your morning will be free to relax in Southsea before we travel the short distance to the maritime city of Portsmouth. You could visit HMS Victory, the Spinnaker Tower or jump on the Land Train and sit back and enjoy all of the famous sights.
Thursday Sadly it’s time to say goodbye to the south coast and travel home. We will arrive back in Cornwall during the evening.
