The famous London skyline has been an icon for years but in recent times there have been some spectacular additions that stand above and beyond the more traditional and recognisable sights. We explore the city and its surrounding areas and include new as well as more traditional attractions.

The four star Bull Hotel is in a peaceful location overlooking the village common and retains many original features from its stagecoach halt days. Rooms are furnished to an excellent standard and the staff are courteous and welcoming. There is a lift to all floors.

Thursday We travel from Cornwall to Buckinghamshire and enjoy a leisurely lunch break in the spa city of Bath before arriving at our hotel early in the evening.

Friday Our guided day begins with a visit to The Shard. The magnificent new building is twice the height of any other viewing platform in the capital and offers unparalleled 360-degree views for up to 40 miles. After this breathtaking experience we board a cruise of the Thames which will take us to Greenwich. This historic area has a royal and naval heritage, world class attractions and amazing views.

Saturday We begin today by immersing ourselves in the sights and sounds of Henry VIII’s favourite royal residence, Hampton Court Palace. We see the bustling Base Court and marvel at the grandeur of Henry’s State Rooms before strolling through its enchanting gardens. The rest of our day will be free to enjoy Richmond which is said to possess a timeless charm more akin to a village than a town.

Sunday Heading once more for the city our guide joins us for a visit to Westminster Abbey. This 700 year old building has seen kings, queens, soldiers, poets and villains – the Abbey is a must-see living pageant of British history. There will be a short visit to Covent Garden for lunch before we have a guided tour of the Royal Albert Hall. From Victorian landmark to modern day icon, we journey through the Hall, taking in the stunning auditorium where the world’s stars have performed.

Monday After breakfast we check out of our hotel and make our way home. Our break today will be in the medieval cathedral city of Salisbury.
