Saturday Our journey today will take us accross the Irish countryside towards the west coast. We break our journey with a visit to Strokestown Park, a great attraction incorporating Strokestown Park House; a Georgian Palladian mansion preserved with its original furnishings and fabrics, six acres of beautiful walled gardens and the The Irish National Famine Museum which tells a tragic story of Irish History. Later we check into The Harlequin Hotel.

Sunday Today we travel to Foxford Woolen Mills, a working mill dating back to the 1800’s. We learn of its origins and see firsthand the mastery of tradition, design and craftsmanship that goes into each product. We also visit the National Museum of Irelands Country Life and enjoy interactive exhibits showing the real side of life in Ireland between 1850 and 1950. There will be time in Castlebar in the afternoon.

Monday After breakfast we make our way to nearby Westport House, a jewel in the crown of Irish history. Our visit includes a one hour guided train tour and a one hour guided tour of the house. In the afternoon we make our way to Galway and the Oranmore Lodge Hotel.

Tuesday The colourful and compact city of Galway has narrow streets and quaint shop fronts that make you feel like little has changed in years. Our day will include a ninety minute cruise on the Corrib Princess as well as time to explore this city steeped in history.

Wednesday We have a morning drive to the Cliffs of Moher a UNESCO Geo Park. The far reaching views to the Aran Islands, Galway Bay and Maunturk mountains are spectacular. We include admission to the visitor experience to learn of the wildlife and heritage of this special place. Later we go to Bunratty Castle and Folk Park where characters, buildings and furnishings bring to life 19th century living. We make our way to Fitzgeralds Woodlands House Hotel.

Thursday Foynes Flying Boat Museum is a unique museum housed in a terminal building that was once the centre of aviation and our visit reveals the amazing story told through a comprehensive range of exhibits. It was also the home of Irish Coffee and we have an Irish Coffee making demo. Our afternoon will be free to enjoy the excellent facilities at our hotel.
