SECRET GARDENS OF CAMBRIDGE

A city often best known for its university life, Cambridge is also justifiably proud of its horticulture and green spaces. This tour takes us on a journey of discovery to some of the less well known but no less notable gardens of the area.

The Holiday Inn Cambridge is a modern and comfortable hotel in a quiet outskirt location. Rooms are spacious with excellent facilities and the leisure club has an indoor pool. The hotel does not have a lift.

Itinerary

Monday We travel from Cornwall to Cambridge with comfort stops along the way. On arrival at our hotel we enjoy tea and biscuits.

Tuesday A day in the university city of Cambridge today. A guide will take us on a tour to discover this fascinating city before we visit the University Botanic Gardens. The forty acres of gardens and glass houses are home to plants from all over the world.

Wednesday Our day begins with a visit to Saffron Walden, home to Bridge End Gardens, a series of seven interlinked gardens laid out in the nineteenth century which are now Grade II listed. Later we head to Bury St Edmunds where we visit the attractive Abbey Gardens. Set on the site of a great benedictine abbey the gardens are well-known for their stunning floral displays. Whilst here we enjoy an afternoon cream tea and have time to browse the local market.

Thursday This morning we spend time at the celebrated Anglesey Abbey Gardens and Lode mill. This renowned garden was bought to life by Lord Fairhaven and offers vibrant colour, delicious scents and a working lode mill. In the afternoon we have a guided tour of Ely Cathedral.

Friday After a breakfast we check out of our hotel for the journey back to Cornwall arriving home in the evening.
