IRELANDS ANCIENT EAST

Join us for a taste of Irelands old East. Enniscorthy is a lively and historic town in the beautiful county of Wexford and it provides a wonderful base from which to explore the beautiful surrounding countryside and a selection of traditional Irish venues to give us a true Celtic experience.

The four star Treacys Hotel at Enniscorthy combines contemporary glamour with old world elegance and is perfectly located just a short walk from the bustling town centre of Enniscorthy. The hotel is known for its regular entertainment and lively traditional Irish pub style bar. All rooms are very well furnished and there is a lift in the hotel.

Itinerary

Sunday We travel from Cornwall to Holyhead for our ferry crossing to Rosslare and arrive at our hotel in the evening.

Monday This morning we travel along the coast to the beautiful Mount Usher Gardens, a fine example of an authentic ‘Robinsonian’ style garden. The ever changing panoply of colours and textures is enhanced by wafting scents and the detailed tree trail guide provided will help you locate the many ‘show-stoppers’ as you wander around. Later in the day we visit Avoca, a riverside town famous for its hand weavers and copper mines.

Tuesday A visit to the crystal city today. We begin our day in Waterford by uncovering 1000 years of history in 1000 paces across The Viking Triangle. We include visits to the Medieval Museum, Reginalds Tower and the Bishops Palace. Your afternoon will be free to enjoy other attractions in Irelands oldest city.

Wednesday After breakfast we make our way to the town of New Ross. The town is steeped in history and maritime tradition and is home to the famous emigrant ship Dunbrody which towers over the quayside. We include admission to this premier class attraction which centers on an authentic reproduction of an 1840’s emigrant vessel, it provides a world-class interpretation of the famine emigrant experience.

Thursday Today we visit the ancient town of Kilkenny where the past is unlocked with a walk along the Medieval Mile. We will have time to visit the castle, Smithwick’s Brewery or the Cathedral and Round Tower. The latter part of our afternoon will be free to enjoy Enniscorthy.

Friday After breakfast we leave our hotel and begin the journey home by ferry and by road. We arrive back to Cornwall later in the evening.
