Superbly situated overlooking the sparkling waters of the Solent, the popular town of Ryde has delighted generations of holiday-makers.  We explore the island with a mixture of lovely attractions and spectacular scenery.

The three star Royal Esplanade Hotel is a beautiful Victorian listed building that has been lovingly restored. It is perfectly situated on the Esplanade, facing the Solent, in the centre of the town. Rooms are comfortable and offer good facilities. The hotel has a lift to most floors.

Sunday We travel from Cornwall to Hampshire and board the ferry for the Isle of Wight. Upon arrival on the island we make our way to Ryde and our hotel.

Monday This morning we visit the historic seaport of Cowes, it is nicknamed “The Yachting Capital of the World” as it hosts the famous Cowes Regatta. We also visit Carisbrooke Castle, a quintessential romantic castle which has been an Elizabethan artillery fortress, a king’s prison and a royal summer residence. Here you can meet the loveable donkeys and see them work, visit a fascinating museum and see the Castle’s Edwardian style garden.

Tuesday A journey ‘around the island’ today. We begin with the subtropical town that time forgot, Ventnor. We also visit the famous white chalk Needles and the visitor park where a dramatic cable car stretches to the multi coloured beach.

Wednesday Today is free to explore the Victorian town of Ryde. The town has many attractions and delights of its own but also has excellent transport links for those of us who wish to venture further afield.

Thursday Our coach will take us to The Isle of Wight Steam Railway where the majestic steam engines, the quiet rural stations and traditionally uniformed staff will give enduring memories of a special day out. Today we will also visit the pretty village of Godshill.

Friday After a good breakfast we depart our hotel for the short drive to the ferry and our return to Cornwall arriving home early evening.
