YORK & SECRET GARDENS OF YORKSHIRE

Williams Premier Class

Yorkshire is a fertile county that is noted for its rugged and beautiful moors. Sitting in stark contrast to this are the beautiful and manicured gardens that can often be found decorating the many historic properties. This lovely tour offers a journey of discovery of country, coast and gardens.

The four star Mercure York Fairfield Manor Hotel is an 18th century Georgian manor house seated in its own grounds enjoying views of the Yorkshire countryside. Rooms are contemporary in fashion with free wi-fi and great facilities. This hotel has a lift.

Itinerary

Sunday We travel north from Cornwall in the morning to the rural county of Yorkshire. We arrive at the York Fairfield Manor to a warm welcome and a hot drink.

Monday Today we take in the North Yorkshire Moors. We begin with a morning coffee stop in the attractive town of Pickering before moving on to the bracing moorland village of Goathland, perhaps better known as Aidensfield. In the afternoon we visit the seaside for time in the lovely town of Scarborough.

Tuesday Our first garden is Burnby Hall Garden, a unique garden on the edge of the wolds that provides a haven of beauty and tranquillity. The gardens are also home to the National Collection of over 100 varieties of Hardy Water Lily and the Stewart Museum. In the afternoon we visit Burton Agnes Hall and Gardens for an out of hours guided tour. The house is immense in charm and character and is surrounded by award winning gardens.

Wednesday A visit to stimulate the senses today as we enjoy time at Yorkshire Lavender. We have the rare opportunity to walk amongst the lavender flowers and see the unique Lavender Maze as well as a number of other gardens that have been developed over the years. Whilst here we enjoy tea and scones. Later we visit the genteel spa town of Harrogate.

Thursday Today will be at leisure to enjoy the city of York. Rich in history and with a romantic ambience this beautiful city is home to a wealth of diverse attractions including York Minster, the National Railway Museum and the quirky Shambles.

Friday We check out of our hotel and make the return journey to Cornwall.
