TOP TO TOE WALES

New Tour

Wales is a vast country of many facets. Mountain ranges, lush valleys, ragged coastline, old-fashioned market towns and ancient castles all invite long visits and our new two centred tour offers just this. We delight in the Celtic feel of the southern sparkling blue bays of the Pembroke coast up to the rugged peaks of the Snowdonia National Park.

The three star standard Ivy Bush Royal Hotel is within walking distance of the town centre and offers a successful blend of old world charm and modern facilities. All rooms have TV, telephone, hairdryer and hot drink facilities. The hotel has a lift.

The three star Beaufort Park Hotel is ideally located and offers a warm and friendly welcome along with comfortable accommodation, good food and entertainment on some evenings.

Itinerary

Sunday Depart from Cornwall in the morning we travel to Carmarthen and the Ivy Bush Royal Hotel.

Monday This morning we travel west to the colourful town of Tenby. There will be time to explore the old town walls, stroll down the interesting side streets and have a bite to eat before we make our way to Picton Castle and Woodland Garden. Pembrokeshire’s finest stately home is situated close to the estuary of the Cleddau River.

Tuesday Our day is free to explore the oldest town in Wales, Carmarthen. Dominated by the castle and steeped in myth there is much to see.

Wednesday Today our excursion takes us on a scenic route via St Bride’s Bay and Newgale Sands to the magical city of St. David’s. After time to look around and have lunch we head around the Preseli Mountains to the old harbour town of Fishguard.

Thursday After breakfast we leave and begin our journey to North Wales. The scenery will get ever more dramatic as we head towards the Snowdonia National Park with its stunning views around every bend. We arrive at our second base, the Beaufort Park Hotel, late in the afternoon.

Friday Llanberis sits in the shadow of Mount Snowdon and we enjoy time here before heading over the Menai Strait to Beaumaris, a delightful village on the shore of the Isle of Anglesey. There will be time for lunch here before our afternoon boat trip to Puffin Island, a protected island which is home to seal colonies and many species of seabird.

Saturday Today’s excursion takes us through some lovely Welsh scenery, including the spectacular Horseshoe Pass, to the Dee Valley where we join the Rheilfford Llangollen Railway. As well as a nostalgic steam train ride, we also cruise the ‘Stream in the Sky’- the Llangollen Canal. Here we glide gently over the country’s biggest navigable viaduct.

Sunday After breakfast we leave Wales and travel home to Cornwall.
