Itinerary

Tuesday We travel from Cornwall to Dover where we board the ferry to Calais and arrive at the Altia Hotel, Lille later in the afternoon.

Wednesday Today we continue our journey and travel to our second overnight hotel, the Achat Plaza Hotel, Karlsruhe.

Thursday After breakfast we rejoin our coach and drive across into Austria and on to Slovenia. We arrive at the Park Hotel on the shore of Lake Bled later in the day to a welcome drink of local brandy.

Friday A day free to enjoy the delightful Lake Bled and its attractive town. Surrounded by mountains and with a fairytale castle, it is an outstandingly beautiful place to spend a day.

Saturday This morning we have a visit to the Slovenian capital of Ljubljana which is home to a wealth of attractions including the Dragon Bridge. Later we follow in the footsteps of The Queen as we visit Lipica, the oldest European stud farm. We have a guided tour of the farm where the famous Lipizzan stallions are trained.

Sunday We head inland to the breath taking Postojna Caves, the world’s most captivating cave with magnificent formations and diverse fauna. The underground train allows us to explore a fascinating subterranean paradise shaped by tiny droplets over millions of years. We return to our hotel via the photo stop at Predjama Castle perched ominously on a cliff.

Monday This morning we leave Slovenia and cross back into Austria for our next base in Zell am See. We enjoy a welcome glass of Schnapps on arrival.

Tuesday Today our excursion takes us over one of the highest Alpine passes in Europe, the Grossglockner Alpine Pass. This road was opened in 1935 providing exploration of an area previously only available to mountaineers. We visit the capital of the East Tyrol area, Lienz. This Medieval town is often known as the ‘pearl of the Dolomites’.

Wednesday A picturesque cruise on Zell am See begins our day and then we are free to explore this lovely town. Located at the base of the mountain, it is on the shores of the lake in close proximity to the glacier and is known for its urban flair and sophistication.

Thursday Sadly we leave our hotel and Austria and travel to Metz for our overnight stay at the Novotel Metz Hauconcourt.

Friday We depart our hotel after breakfast and make the journey home to Cornwall arriving later in the evening.
