ISLE OF WIGHT

The Isle of Wight is a mixture of fabulous attractions and spectacular scenery. From our base in the lovely town of Ryde, superbly situated overlooking the sparkling waters of the Solent, we explore the island that has delighted holiday-makers for centuries.

The three star Royal Esplanade Hotel is a beautiful Victorian listed building that has been lovingly restored and is situated on the Esplanade, facing the Solent.

Itinerary

Sunday We travel from Cornwall to Hampshire and board the ferry for the Isle of Wight. Upon arrival on the island we make our way to Ryde and our hotel.

Monday Our coach will take us to the old town of Shanklin this morning. This pretty part of the town contains some of the oldest dwellings on the Island, many of which are thatched. We also take in the seaside town of Sandown and the pretty village of Godshill.

Tuesday This morning we visit the famous white chalk Needles and visitor park where a dramatic cable car stretches to the multi coloured beach. In the afternoon we have a visit to the magical Mottistone Gardens and Estate. The 20th-century gardens have a Mediterranean-style planting scheme, a young olive grove, a small organic kitchen garden and a traditional tea garden.

Wednesday Today is free to explore the Victorian town of Ryde. The town has many attractions and delights of its own but also has excellent transport links for those of us who wish to venture further afield.

Thursday We follow in the footsteps of royalty with a visit to Osborne House, the palacial holiday home of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. This beautiful spot offers an intimate glimpse of royal family life. We also include a visit to the beautiful church at Whippingham.

Friday After a good breakfast we depart our hotel for the short drive to the ferry and our return to Cornwall arriving home early evening.
