WELSH VALLEYS & BEACONS

This attraction packed tour takes us to a selection of the most fascinating South Wales destinations that reflect both history and heritage of this traditional Celtic area. We get a taste of the finery of one of the greatest Welsh families and the stark contrast of the hardship of local industry. The breathtaking background of the Welsh scenery makes this tour a must.

The three star Best Western Aberavon Beach Hotel is ideally situated on the Aberavon seafront with two miles of flat promenade to enjoy, as well as the wide sandy beach and views across Swansea Bay. Rooms have very good facilities and there is an indoor pool and lift for guests use.

Itinerary

Sunday Leaving Cornwall in the morning we travel to South Wales enjoying a break in the petite city of Wells en route.

Monday We begin with a guided tour of Tredegar House. Situated within 90 acres of beautiful gardens and parkland, this delightful red brick house is one of the architectural wonders of Wales and former home to one of the greatest Welsh families, the Morgans. During the afternoon we travel into Cardiff where we will enjoy a one hour cruise around Cardiff Bay.

Tuesday Following breakfast we visit the Big Pit National Coal Museum. We include a sixty minute underground tour by ex-miners and have the opportunity to explore the colliery buildings and learn the story of coal. During the afternoon we visit St Fagans – one of Europes leading open air museums that shows Wales from Celtic times to present day.

Wednesday Today we tickle the tastebuds! Starting with Rhymney Brewery and Blaenafon Cheddar Company where we take tours to learn the art of making speciality cheese and unique beers. There will be a tasting and a two course lunch to follow. In the afternoon we continue the theme with a guided tour of Penderyn Distillery, one of the smallest in the world.

Thursday After breakfast we begin our journey home arriving back to Cornwall in the evening.
