There can be no better way to enjoy the joys of Christmas than being in a cold, crisp and mountainous Scottish countryside. Newtonmore is a picturesque village situated in the Cairngorms and is famous for its role in Monarch of The Glen, it will provide us with the perfect base from which to enjoy this wonderful area.

The three star Highlander Hotel at Newtonmore is famed for its true highland welcome, excellent service and good food. All bedrooms are located externally to the main hotel building and are accessed by a short walkway. They all offer a high level of comfort with TV, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. The hotel does not have a lift but can offer a number of ground floor rooms.

Saturday We depart Cornwall early in the morning and make our way to the Preston area where we have an overnight break.

Sunday Leaving Preston we travel north over the border into Scotland. Our scenic route takes us up into beautiful Highland countryside. Once settled into the hotel we enjoy a welcome drinks reception before dinner.

Monday – Christmas Eve: Enjoy a hearty breakfast before our excursion to Grantown-on-Spey. During the day we call at the Speyside Heather Centre. We will enjoy a warming coffee break. Tonight is Traditional Highland Night at the hotel. Dinner will consist of a five course meal, piping in of the haggis, and, of course, a wee dram, with Scottish entertainment and dances. For those wishing to attend Midnight Mass at the village Church of Scotland, mulled wine and hot mince pies will be served on your return.

Tuesday – Christmas Day: Merry Christmas! Have a good breakfast, but leave room for lunch. Enjoy a relaxing morning opening your presents and relaxing with family and friends. Lunch will be served and we are hoping that Santa will make an appearance. After lunch you can have a stroll around the village or retire to the lounge with a board game. Dinner tonight is buffet style, followed by an evening of entertainment.

Wednesday – Boxing Day: After breakfast we have a short scenic excursion in the local area before an afternoon of fun and laughter at the Eden Court Theatre with their annual Inverness Christmas Pantomime. Afterwards we return to the hotel for dinner and our final night of music and entertainment.

Thursday We bid farewell to Scotland and begin our return journey. Once again we have an overnight stop at the Holiday Inn Preston.

Friday Our journey continues after breakfast and we arrive in Cornwall during the evening.
