Scotland needs little introduction as an unforgettable holiday destination it’s the capital city Edinburgh is a city that begs to be discovered. We enjoy a stay in the centre of Perth and visit a range of attractions and places that offer an insight into the many facets of this often wild, beautifully scenic and always welcoming country.

The three star Salutation Hotel is thought to be one of the oldest hotels in Scotland. Situated in the heart of the historic city of Perth this welcoming hotel offers traditional hospitality with modern comforts. Rooms are individually designed with good facilities and some have lift access.


Sunday We leave Cornwall and travel north to Preston for an overnight stay at the Holiday Inn.

Monday This morning we travel further north and cross the border into Scotland. We break for lunch in the historic spa town of Moffatt before continuing our journey to Perth and the Salutation Hotel.

Tuesday A morning tour to the lovely town of Pitlochry where we visit the Pitlochry Dam Visitor Centre. Here we learn not only of the history of hydro-electric but also how the famous fish ladder influenced the project design. We return to our hotel for a light lunch before an afternoon excursion to Dundee and the Verdant Textile Museum. Here we relive the story of Dundee’s industrial textile heritage in the setting of a refurbished mill.

Wednesday This morning begins with a ninety minute guided walking tour of Perth where we discover the rich history of this lovely city and learn a few details of its magnificent past including the days when Bonnie Prince Charlie is rumoured to have stayed at The Salutation. We return to the hotel for soup and sandwiches before an afternoon at leisure.

Thursday Our day begins by crossing the Forth Bridge and travelling to the capital city of Edinburgh. Here we visit the Royal Yacht Britannia and step in the footsteps of royalty as we explore their former floating home. The remainder of our day will be free to explore Scotland’s inspiring capital where centuries of history meet a world class city in an unforgettable setting.

Friday Leaving our hotel after breakfast with a packed lunch we see the last views of Scotland for this visit as we return to Preston for an overnight stay at the Holiday Inn. There will be a stop en route at the border city of Carlisle.

Saturday After breakfast we make the journey back to Cornwall arriving home in the evening.
