SCOTTISH HIGHLANDS

The Scottish Highlands are the Scotland of our imagination. This spring tour takes in the wonderful mountain and loch scenery that offer unending solitude as well as visiting a number of bustling towns and fascination attractions that reflect the incredible Celtic traditions.

The three star Highlander Hotel at Newtonmore is famed for its true highland welcome, excellent service and good food. All bedrooms are located externally to the main hotel building and are accessed by a short walkway. They all offer a high level of comfort with TV, hairdryer and hot drink facilities. The hotel does not have a lift but have a number of ground floor rooms.

Itinerary

Sunday We depart Cornwall early in the morning and make our way to the Preston area where we have an overnight break at the Holiday Inn.

Monday Leaving Preston we travel north over the border into Scotland. Our scenic route takes us up into beautiful Highland countryside. We will arrive in time to settle into our hotel prior to dinner. 

Tuesday Our day begins with a visit to Pitlochry, a fine Scottish town known for beautiful scenery and rich clan history as well as its salmon ladder. During the day we have a visit to a local distillery for a guided tour and taste of the produce.

Wednesday Today we visit the pretty town of Aviemore for a journey on the UK’s highest funicular railway, the Cairngorm Railway. This unique visitor experience allows people of all abilities to reach the Top Station where we enjoy panoramic views from over 3,500ft. There will be time for lunch in Aviemore before we visit the Speyside Heather Centre, home to the famous Clootie Dumpling Restaurant.

Thursday Our coach will take us on a morning visit to Fort William, a town on the shores of Loch Linnhe. It sits in the shadow of Ben Nevis, the UK’s largest mountain. Our afternoon is free to enjoy Newtonmore and an included afternoon tea at our hotel.

Friday We bid farewell to Scotland and begin our return journey. Once again we have an overnight stop at the Holiday Inn Preston.

Saturday Our journey continues after breakfast and we arrive in Cornwall during the evening.
