For this Turkey and Tinsel we will visit one of Englands most popular scenic holiday destinations – The Lake District. We will be staying at the superb 3 star Cumbria Grand Hotel, a charming Victorian hotel situated in the coastal town of Grange-over-Sands with beautiful views over Morecombe Bay. Set in 20 acres of private gardens, the hotel offers not only beautiful woodland walks but also a tennis court and a putting green. All bedrooms have satellite television, telephone, hospitality tray and central heating.
Itinerary
Monday We depart during the morning and travel to Cumbria arriving in ample time to settle before a sherry reception, evening dinner and entertainment.
Tuesday This morning we will spend some time in the market town of Penrith before visiting the famous Rheged visitor attraction with its selection of artisan shops and excellent cafes. We return through the scenic Kirkstone Pass and Windermere to our hotel in time for dinner followed by entertainment.
Wednesday Today we visit Morecombe, a leading resort of the North with wonderful views of The Lake District across the famous Bay. Our afternoon will be at leisure in the historic town of Lancaster. Tonight we will be served a traditional Christmas dinner followed by hot mince pies and another evening of entertainment.
Thursday We follow the beautiful coastline to the historic town of Whitehaven which has in recent years become one of the prettiest towns in Cumbria. After lunch we travel via Cockermouth and Keswick and on through the heart of The Lake District National Park. Tonight’s dinner will be served by candlelight and will be followed by “New Year Celebrations”.
Friday After a hearty breakfast we depart Cumbria and make the return journey home to Cornwall arriving early evening.
