Join us on this new tour to the beautiful Pembrokeshire coast and the little resort of Gwbert-on-Sea, a small quiet hamlet located on the eastern shore of the mouth of the Teifi estuary and situated just a few miles from the thriving market town of Cardigan. We will be staying at the 3 star Cliff Hotel which is set in a stunning location overlooking Cardigan Bay. The hotel offers all en-suite rooms, many of the rooms have their own lounge area with views over Cardigan Bay. There is a lift and entertainment in the hotel most evenings.
Itinerary
Sunday Departing during the morning we travel to Bristol and across the River Severn into Wales to arrive at our hotel to a warm welcome with tea or coffee and biscuits. There will be time to relax before dinner.
Monday A leisurely start to the day, we will travel along the coast and see the magnificent views over Cardigan Bay. Our destination will be the charming Regency town of Aberaeron with its multi-coloured houses and attractive harbour. We return to our hotel to a light afternoon buffet followed by prize bingo or time to relax in the hotel conservatory with stunning views over the bay.
Tuesday Today we visit the little village of Cilgerran. Here you can visit the Castle with stunning views overlooking Teifi Gorge (admission not included). Following this we will travel on to the unspoilt Welsh market town of Lampeter where you will have time to visit the magnificent grounds of the university or enjoy some refreshments in one of the many charming coffee shops. During the afternoon we include a visit to the stunning Cae Hir Gardens. This beautiful example of horticulture was created over 20 years ago by Dutchman Wil Akkermans and is set in 6 acres of former rough pasture land, it is now one of the Royal Horticultural Society’s Partner Gardens. We return to the hotel with some time at leisure before dinner which will be followed by an evening of entertainment.
Wednesday This morning after a hearty Welsh breakfast we travel into Cardigan. Full of Georgian and Victorian buildings, this lovely little market town was once one of the busiest ports in Wales. You will have time to visit Cardigan Market in the Guildhall, the Heritage Centre on the River or the Art gallery. After lunch we return to our hotel in time for afternoon tea followed by a fun filled Cliff Treasure Hunt. Our final dinner will have a Welsh themed menu followed by Welsh themed entertainment.
Thursday After breakfast we depart our hotel for the return journey to Cornwall arriving home during the early evening.
