Unfurling gently eastwards, the vast flatlands of East Anglia are a rich web of lush farmland, melancholy fens and sparkling rivers. We enjoy a visit to some of the tastier attractions of the area and delight in the inspirational villages.
A Taste of East Anglia Itinerary
Monday Departing from Cornwall in the morning we travel to East Anglia. Early in the evening we arrive at the Best Western Ipswich Hotel.
Tuesday Our day begins with a scenic morning tour of pretty Suffolk villages including the medieval village of Lavenham and the picture postcard villages of Cavendish and Clare. Our tour ends at Steeple Bumpstead where we visit the Chocolate Lady and learn the art of making handmade chocolates followed by an afternoon cream tea.
Wednesday This morning we head south into Essex to visit the Wilkin’s Tiptree Jam Museum. Here we learn the story of the famous jam brand before sampling it with an enjoyable cream tea. This afternoon we have time in Ipswich, the oldest Anglo-Saxon town in England which displays a rich and proud history.
Thursday Today we visit the home of horseracing, the National Horseracing Centre at Newmarket and learn about the history of ‘The Sport of Kings’. Later we head for Bury St Edmunds, famous for the Abbey Gardens and its connections with Dickens.
Friday This morning we begin our journey back to Cornwall arriving home in the evening.
