Enjoy the rich golden hues of the season as we explore the beautiful county of Dorset and its varied and much loved towns, coastline and attractions. We include a guided tour of the glorious New Forest National Park, which is said to be one of the best places in Europe to enjoy spectacular autumn colours.
Itinerary
Autumn Colours of Dorset and The New Forest Itinerary
Sunday We leave Cornwall in the morning and travel to Dorset enjoying a leisurely break for lunch on the way. A welcome hot drink will be served on arrival at the Cumberland Hotel.
Monday Today we visit Hengistbury Head Visitor Centre to learn about this unique area. We board a land train for a ride around the small peninsula to explore the beautiful, rugged landscape and see an array of wildlife. There will be time for lunch in Christchurch before we make our way to Lymington. This gem of the New Forest is a colourful coastal town and ancient seaport.
Tuesday This morning we visit Kingston Lacy, a lavish family home re-imagined as a Venetian Palace in the rural Dorset countryside. As well as discovering the house and its treasures, the grounds come alive as the Acer Glade and Japanese Garden dazzle with fiery reds, yellows and oranges. The latter part of our afternoon will be free in Bournemouth.
Wednesday After breakfast we meet our guide for a tour of discovery through the glorious New Forest National Park. As we enjoy the stunning natural displays of rich autumnal colours our guide will give us the history of the area as well as showing us local landmarks and nature of this unique area. Later we spend time in Lyndhurst, which is not only home to The New Forest Heritage Centre but is also the capital of the New Forest.
Thursday After breakfast we leave Bournemouth and make our way to Dorset’s historic county town, Dorchester. There will be time to browse and enjoy morning coffee before we make the journey home to Cornwall.
