Itinerary
Charming Suffolk Itinerary
Sunday Leaving Cornwall in the morning we travel to Suffolk and arrive at our hotel to a welcome hot drink and biscuits.
Monday This morning we drive to Woodbridge, a much-overlooked gem of a town just off the Suffolk Coast that is home to a working tide mill. We then travel to Aldeburgh, a picturesque coastal town on the Suffolk coast that is known for its shingle beach and fisherman huts. There will be time for lunch in this pretty seaside town before returning to the county town of Ipswich to discover its coastal lifestyle and maritime history.
Tuesday Our first stop today is Lavenham, a remarkably preserved settlement and one of the UK’s most beautiful medieval villages. There will be time to wander its quaint streets and marvel at the unique architecture. This afternoon we visit Bury St Edmunds, a quintessentially English town with a fascinating history. This jewel in Suffolks crown was famously immortalised by Dickens in Pickwick Papers.
Wednesday We travel through the awe-inspiring Dedham Vale this morning and see why the area has been an inspiration for artists such as Constable, Munnings and Gainsborough. Our tour takes us via the famous and beautiful locations of Dedham and East Bergholt. We then visit the idyllic Tiptree Tea Rooms where we enjoy a cream tea before a visit to the Tiptree Jam Museum which tells the story of this much loved and well known brand. Later we have time in the ancient Roman city of Colchester.
Thursday After breakfast we make the journey home to Cornwall.
