Chatsworth & the Peaks Description

Derbyshire is a county of many unique characteristics and home to a large proportion of Britain’s first National Park, The Peak District. Join us to explore a county with breathtaking scenery and spend time in one of its greatest stately homes, Chatsworth House.

Chatsworth & the Peaks Itinerary

Monday We leave Cornwall in the morning and travel to Derbyshire and the Mickleover Court Hotel. A welcome tea and biscuits will be served on arrival and a complimentary glass of wine will be served with dinner.

Tuesday In the morning we venture into the city of Nottingham where we can discover the legend of Robin Hood, explore the castle museum or visit the historic Lace Market area. In the afternoon we visit Crich Tramway Village to be transported back in time on vintage trams, soak up the atmosphere in the period street and maybe take refreshments in the period pub.

Wednesday Today we have a visit to the beautiful Chatsworth House, seat of the Duke of Devonshire, it has been home to the Cavendish family since 1549. There will be time to admire the splendour of the house, explore over a hundred acres of garden, take in the water features and giant sculptures as well as meeting the animals in the farmyard.  Later in the afternoon we return to our hotel for a complimentary cream tea.

Thursday Its back to the splendid scenery of the Peak District National Park today as we head for the Derwent Valley and Matlock, once famed for its spa treatments. We then see amazing views and vistas as we cross the rugged countryside of the Peaks. We take in the lovely spa town of Buxton, the highest market town in the country, and the lovely town of Bakewell, famous for its puddings.

Friday After our last breakfast in Derbyshire we begin the journey home to Cornwall.
