Itinerary
Chester, Llangollen and The Great Orme Itinerary
Monday We depart in the morning travelling to Chester and arriving at our hotel early in the evening. A welcome hot drink will be served on arrival.
Tuesday Today we have the day free to explore Chester. The beautiful and compact city has so much to offer. Perhaps cruise the River Dee, stroll along the Roman City walls, browse the famous ‘Rows’ of two tiered shops or enjoy the fascinating and in some cases, unique choice of museums.
Wednesday After breakfast we make our way to Llangollen. Here we have a relaxing and peaceful journey from ‘the olden days” on a horse drawn boat. It takes us along one of the most beautiful canals in Britain. There will be time for lunch in the quirky town which is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. We return to Chester where the latter part of our afternoon is free to enjoy more of the beautiful riverside city.
Thursday Our scenic tour today takes us into Wales, through the Dee Valley into Snowdonia National Park. The charming village of Betws-y-coed will be our first stop to discover the ‘Gateway to Snowdonia’. We then head to one of the UK’s best‑loved seaside towns, Llandudno. Here we board the Great Orme Tramway, a remarkable feat of Victorian engineering. Beautifully restored carriages ascend through the winding roads of the Great Orme and on a clear day, views from the summit reach as far as the Isle of Man, Blackpool and the Lake District!
Friday Regretfully today it’s time to say farewell to Chester and begin our homeward journey.
