Join us to spend the festive period in the wonderful North Devon countryside, a spectacular area to explore. We enjoy the warm and seasonal hospitality of a Brend Hotel whilst also taking excursions to discover the rugged North Devon coastline and its welcoming and quaint towns.
Itinerary
Christmas in Barnstaple Itinerary
Wednesday We leave Cornwall in the morning and travel to north Cornwall enjoying a leisurely break for lunch on the way. The Barnstaple Hotel will welcome us with hot drinks and mince pies.
Thursday Christmas Eve: This morning we have a short visit to the nearby town of Bideford. There will be time to browse the harbour and enjoy morning coffee before we head back to Barnstaple where we can explore the ancient market town and have a spot of lunch. We return to our hotel for a delicious afternoon tea. This evening we enjoy carol singers and mulled wine followed by a Victorian games evening.
Friday Christmas Day: Merry Christmas to all! Enjoy a leisurely breakfast, open gifts and perhaps take a stroll. We then enjoy a pre lunch Champagne reception followed by a traditional Christmas Day lunch. This afternoon will be free to relax and listen to the King’s Speech with a slice of Christmas cake. Dinner this evening will be a light hot and cold buffet.
Saturday Boxing Day: After a leisurely breakfast we head to the coastal town of Ilfracombe. The pretty seaside town has an attractive seafront and a small harbour surrounded by dramatic cliffs. We then step into the beautiful Exmoor National Park and head to the coast and the village of Lynmouth. Stroll by the bobbing boats, view the iconic Rhenish Tower or grab refreshments in one of the quaint coffee shops. Later we return to our hotel for a gala dinner followed by race night entertainment.
Sunday After breakfast we leave Barnstaple and travel across the edge of Dartmoor to the maritime city of Plymouth. There will be time for an early lunch in the lovely Barbican area before making our way back to Cornwall. We arrive home during the afternoon.
