Christmas in The Lake District Description

Experience the festivities of Christmas in the breathtaking Lake District National Park. By day we explore the unforgettable scenery of rugged moorlands, sparkling lakes and soaring mountains and in the evening, we return to our warming hotel to enjoy good food, great entertainment and a Christmas atmosphere.

Christmas in The Lake District Itinerary

Wednesday We leave Cornwall in the morning and travel to our hotel in Cumbria, arriving in time for dinner.

Thursday Christmas Eve: Fantastic scenery today as we make our way to Ullswater and follow the shore road to Glenridding. We continue over the rugged Kirkstone Pass and descend to Bowness-on-Windermere. There will be time for lunch before we board a boat to cruise on Lake Windermere to Lakeside. Tea and biscuits will be served on board. We then travel over the Shap Fells to our hotel. Dinner will be followed by live entertainment. 

Friday Christmas Day: Merry Christmas to all! Enjoy a leisurely breakfast, open gifts and perhaps take a stroll to see the wild, red squirrels. We then enjoy a traditional Christmas Day lunch with a glass of fizz. Our afternoon will be free to relax, listen to the King’s Speech and enjoy tea and Christmas cake. Dinner tonight will be buffet style and followed by live entertainment.

Saturday Boxing Day: This morning we have a short coach tour via Appleby-in-Westmorland, to the pleasant town of Penrith, Cumbrias ancient capital. There will be time to stroll around the town before returning to our hotel for a carvery lunch. Our afternoon is free to relax or maybe enjoy a board game with friends. Tonight’s buffet dinner is followed by our last evening of live entertainment.

Sunday After a lovely breakfast we make our way back to Cornwall arriving home during the evening.
