The elegant coastal town of Eastbourne sits at the foot of the South Downs in Sussex and is a perfect holiday destination. Lovely gardens, clear air and sparkling sea all add to the feel good factor. We have excursions to enjoy the attractions and beauty of the local area.
Eastbourne Coast Explorer Itinerary
Saturday We travel from Cornwall to Eastbourne arriving early in the evening.
Sunday This morning we begin our day with a morning coffee break in the lovely Bexhill on Sea. We then travel on to Bodiam and board the Kent and East Sussex Railway, the country’s finest example of a rural light railway which takes us on a lovely rural journey to Tenterden. There will be time for lunch in this lovely town known as ‘Jewel of the Weald’. It offers a fascinating history, a wealth of architecture and a range of lovely individual shops.
Monday Our first day is at leisure to discover and enjoy Eastbourne and our lovely surroundings.
Tuesday A full day tour which begins in the resort of Hastings, an alternative town with its twittens, caves and tales of 1066. Next we visit the attractive town of Battle, the market town that sits alongside the battleground and tranquil medieval abbey. Our day ends in the small town of Rye, with its cobbled stones and half–timber houses and pretty Mermaid Street.
Wednesday We begin our day by heading to the seaside town of Worthing, our first stop will be the English Martyrs Catholic Church where we see an amazing ceiling decoration painted by an English artist to replicate the Sistine Chapel. There will then be time in Worthing with its gardens, Georgian townhouses and beautiful beaches. In the afternoon we head back to Eastbourne with a break for afternoon tea in the lovely town of Lewes.
Thursday Our day will be free to relax and take advantage of the entertainment and attractions available in Eastbourne.
Friday Today begins in the pretty village of Alfriston before we then travel to Brighton via the famous Beachy Head beauty spot. There will be time for lunch in the popular town before a visit to the Royal Pavilion, an exotic palace in the centre of Brighton with a colourful history.
Saturday After breakfast we make the return journey to Cornwall.
