Edinburgh Tattoo Description
The annual Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo is an unforgettable spectacle! Staged as part of Edinburgh’s world-famous summer festivals, the tattoo is a unique and memorable celebration of music, dance and military pageantry. As well as this magical highlight, we also enjoy a number of excursions to take in some truly magnificent Scottish scenery.
Itinerary
Edinburgh Tattoo Itinerary
Thursday We depart Cornwall and travel to Preston where we enjoy an overnight stop at the Holiday Inn.
Friday After breakfast we continue our journey north. During the day we visit the famous Gretna Green, the romantic Scottish Village that has been famous for tying the knot since the 18th century. We then travel on to our mainstay hotel.
Saturday A free morning to relax in our hotel or hop on a bus into the city before enjoying lunch at our hotel. During the afternoon we make our way to Edinburgh where there is time at leisure before the evening performance of the Edinburgh Tattoo. Held in the grounds of Edinburgh Castle this unforgettable evening offers military ceremony, theatre and dance.
Sunday Following breakfast we enjoy a scenic tour of the Trossachs and will visit the Scottish towns of Callander and Aberfoyle. In the afternoon we visit Loch Katrine and include a cruise on the famous Steam Ship Sir Walter Scott.
Monday We enjoy a slightly later start, when our tour will take us to the ‘fair city’ of Perth. As one of Scotland’s oldest settlements it has a wealth of history to explore. On our return we enjoy a brief stop at Kinross, gateway to The Highlands.
Tuesday Checking out of our hotel we travel south and tour through the Cumbrian countryside. We have a break in Bowness, on the banks of Lake Windermere before travelling on to our last overnight stay at the Holiday Inn Preston.
Wednesday We leave Preston and make our way back to Cornwall arriving home during the evening.
