Itinerary
Flavours of Kent Itinerary
Monday We leave Cornwall in the morning and enjoy the journey to the county known as the ‘Garden of England’. We enjoy a warm welcome and a hot drink on arrival at our hotel.
Tuesday For our first visit today, we head for Staplehurst and Hush Heath Estate and vineyards. Here we enjoy a guided tour and learn the art of grape growing before visiting the winery. We finish with a tutored tasting of six wines and ciders. We enjoy a ploughmans platter lunch in the estate pub. After our visit we head to Royal Tunbridge Wells set in the heart of the beautiful High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Wednesday Today we head to historic Faversham. We begin with a visit to the Shepherd Neame Brewery for a guided ‘behind the scenes’ tour. After our tour you will have free time to enjoy lunch and explore the charming town. The latter part of our afternoon will be spent in historic Rochester.
Thursday This morning we head for the land of mysterious marshes and smugglers. First, we come to New Romney; a Cinque Port since 1155, the Great Storm of 1287 changed the course of the River Rother and made New Romney an inland town. Next, we arrive at Lydd, a town notorious for the activities of ‘owlers’ (local smugglers). Our last stop will be the once important port town of Rye, which still retains a historic charm.
Friday Leaving Kent after breakfast we sit back and enjoy the journey back to Cornwall.
