Historic Lincoln Itinerary
Monday Departing in the morning we travel to Lincolnshire and arrive at our hotel to a welcome hot drink.
Tuesday This morning we make our way to the historic town of Melton Mowbray where the market, once noted in the Doomsday book is still taking place. Later we visit the beautiful town of Stamford, packed full of quaint shops and historic side streets.
Wednesday After breakfast we head for Newark-on-Trent where it is market day. Perhaps visit the National Civil War Centre or one of the excellent antique centres. Later we visit the austere and atmospheric Southwell Workhouse and Infirmary, a last-resort refuge for the poor and destitute which is now one of the best-preserved examples in the country.
Thursday Today we drive to the historic city of Lincoln with its magnificent cathedral and Norman Castle next door. The old town is a labyrinth of little alleyways and interesting shops to explore. On arrival we will have a guided tour around Lincoln on our coach followed by free time to explore the town or visit the cathedral or castle.
Friday After a leisurely breakfast we head for home.
