Humberside & Yorkshire Moors Itinerary
Monday Leaving Cornwall in the morning we travel to East Yorkshire and settle into our hotel.
Tuesday York will be todays destination, one of England’s finest and most beautiful historic cities. The compact centre has many wonderful things to see including York Minster, the city walls and architecture from medieval times.
Wednesday Today we make our way into the North Yorkshire Moors to join the North Yorkshire Moors Railway for a journey to Whitby and return. We board at Pickering, a must-see 1930’s themed station, travel behind heritage locomotives and delight in the beauty of this national park. We enjoy time in the town of Whitby where the gothic culture is reflected in its quirky streets, shops and abbey ruins.
Thursday This morning we travel to the coast and visit the town known as the ‘lobster capital of Europe’. Bridlington has lovely promenades, a historic harbour and a traditional ambience. Later we visit Sewerby Hall, Gardens and Zoo. A unique and historic property situated in a dramatic clifftop position with spectacular views.
Friday Our first stop today will be the Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre where the excellent exhibitions take us back to the 1950s trawlermen. Later we move on to Cleethorpes and have a ride along the picturesque Humberside coast on the Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway.
Saturday As our tour draws to an end we join our coach for the journey back to Cornwall.
