RHS Bridgewater & Gardens of the Peaks Itinerary
Sunday Leaving Cornwall in the morning we travel to the outskirts of Macclesfield where we settle into our hotel and enjoy a hot drink on arrival.
Monday Today we visit the new RHS Garden Bridgewater, a spectacular 154-acre garden which has transformed the historic grounds of Worsley New Hall. Award winning garden designers have brought ‘gardens within a garden’ to life by blending history with world-class horticulture. Later we travel to Salford Quays for a one hour cruise giving an insight into the history of the area and a unique view of Manchester including Media City, Old Trafford and the disused dry docks.
Tuesday Our day begins with a visit to the lovely Cascades Gardens, a place for meditation and wellbeing. The four acre garden is inspired by Japanese and Buddhist philosophy and is full of historical interest with a ruined corn mill, old lead mine, cliffs, streams, ponds and canal. There will be a visit to the lovely town of Matlock Bath where you can enjoy lunch before we visit the excellent Hollies Farm Plant Centre.
Wednesday Biddulph Grange has been described as a masterpiece of Victorian Garden design and it is home to a collection of plants from around the world. We have a morning visit to enjoy this unique and curious garden. Later we travel through the beautiful Peak District countryside to the spa town of Buxton. Georgian and Victorian architecture provides an impressive backdrop but the award winning Palace Gardens are also a must for lots of visitors.
Thursday After breakfast we leave our hotel to travel back to Cornwall and arrive home during the evening.
