Itinerary
Royal Scotland Itinerary
Sunday We depart Cornwall in the morning and travel to Preston where we have an overnight stay at the Preston Marriott Hotel.
Monday This morning our journey continues north. Sit back and enjoy magnificent scenery as we cross from England to Scotland. We break for lunch in the historic spa town of Moffat situated in the Annandale Valley. We arrive at the Angus Hotel later in the afternoon to a welcome hot drink and shortbread.
Tuesday Today we travel into the spectacular Cairngorms National Park for a visit to the Scottish home of the royal family, Balmoral. The Queen spends her summer here and regularly attends the beautiful Crathie church. The history of the castle dates back to Queen Victoria and Prince Albert and we can see the grand ballroom, carriage hall, formal gardens and cottage garden.
Wednesday Perth is our destination today and as we walk the little city’s grid of streets, you soon get the impression it is a place with a past. This beautiful and historic city sits attractively on the banks of the River Tay. After lunch we visit Taste Perthshire to sample the excellent locally produced liquor before returning to Blairgowrie in the afternoon.
Thursday Dundee is our first stop today and here we visit the new V&A, international design centre for Scotland. Housed in a world-class building at the heart of Dundee’s Waterfront. It hosts exhibitions, inspires contemporary talent and seeks to encourage design innovation. In the afternoon we visit Glamis Castle the birthplace of HRH Princess Margaret and home to the Queen Mother.
Friday Sadly we leave Scotland today and make our way back to Preston for an overnight stay at the Marriott Hotel. Our journey will take us through the scenic Lake District and we will have a leisurely lunch break on the way.
Saturday We leave Preston and travel back to Cornwall arriving home during the evening.
