Itinerary
Scotland & The Trossachs Itinerary
Sunday We depart Cornwall and travel to Preston where we enjoy an overnight stop at the Holiday Inn.
Monday After breakfast we continue our journey up north. During the day we visit the famous Gretna Green, the romantic Scottish Village that has been famous for tying the knot since the 18th century. We then travel on to our mainstay hotel.
Tuesday This morning we travel to Falkirk where we take a journey like no other on the famous Falkirk Wheel. This feat of engineering offers a boat trip with a difference as we sail through the sky to join the Union Canal thirty five metres above. Our afternoon is free to enjoy Falkirk, where the old town is home to some of Scotland’s most epic events.
Wednesday Today we have a scenic tour taking in Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. This iconic and romantic area is made up of sparkling lochs, crumpled hills and sleepy forests. We include a visit to the town of Callander ‘Gateway to the Highlands’ and a cruise on the beautiful Loch Lomond.
Thursday Our day begins with a visit to the Crieff visitor centre, home of the famous Caithness Glass. We also have time in the lovely town of Crieff. In the afternoon we visit Scone Palace, one of Scotland’s most important stately homes with a colourful history. It has been the seat of parliaments and the crowning place of the Kings of Scots. It now houses an outstanding collection of antiques, paintings and rare artefacts and the grounds are renowned throughout the world.
Friday Checking out of our hotel we travel south via the beautifully scenic Scottish borderlands. We break for morning coffee in the Royal Burgh of Peebles. Later we have a break in the city of Carlisle which is rich with stories. We then return to the Holiday Inn Preston for our last overnight stay.
Saturday We leave Preston and make our way back to Cornwall arriving home during the evening.
