This tour is based in the attractive, rural Severn Valley and offers the opportunity to explore not only the beautiful scenery and delightful city of Worcester, but also a range of very different and enjoyable attractions.
Severn Valley & Worcester Itinerary
Monday Departing Cornwall in the morning we travel to the lovely port of Gloucester where we have time in the afternoon to explore the historic docks area. In the afternoon we travel on to our hotel where a warm welcome and a hot drink awaits.
Tuesday This morning we visit the Coalport China Museum, home to exquisite collections of Coalport and Caughley China. The magnificent listed buildings were home to the Coalport factory until 1926. In the afternoon we move on to the excellent Aerospace Museum at RAF Cosford where we see over seventy aircraft dating back to wartime and a National Cold War exhibition telling the story of life behind the Iron Curtain.
Wednesday Our day begins in delightful Worcester, with its impressive Cathedral and the scenic River Severn. There will be free time to explore before we drive along the delightful Severn Valley to Bewdley for a visit to the West Midlands Safari Park. We enjoy tea and cakes before our safari guide accompanies us through four miles of safari which is home to Indian Rhinos, Cheetahs, Lions, Tigers, Giraffes and Elephants.
Thursday Today begins with a visit to Stokesay Castle, a survivor of hundreds of years of wars, it is the best fortified manor house in Britain. From here we head for the little village of Acton Scott where we visit Acton Scott Historic Working Farm, which offers an insight into life on a Victorian country estate. The farm has featured on TV’s ‘Victorian Farm’. Leaving here we have a pleasant drive along Wenlock Edge returning to the hotel.
Friday After breakfast we leave our hotel and make the journey back to Cornwall.
