Itinerary
Springtime in The Lake District Itinerary
Sunday We depart Cornwall in the morning and sit back and enjoy the coach ride to the Lake District. On arrival at our hotel we enjoy a welcome hot drink.
Monday Bowness on Lake Windermere will be our first stop. With gorgeous panoramic views over the lake, quaint narrow streets and a charming atmosphere, it is one of the most visited tourist towns in the country. After lunch we visit the historic ‘Auld Grey Town’ of Kendal, which is also the gateway to the Lakes.
Tuesday This morning we travel to the beautiful village of Settle where we join one of the UK’s most famous scenic rail routes. The Settle to Carlisle Railway takes in numerous viaducts, tunnels and countless beautiful vistas along its seventy two mile route. On arrival in Carlisle there will be time for a late lunch before meeting our coach to return to the hotel.
Wednesday Our scenic tour takes us via Coniston Water to the beautiful town of Ambleside, situated at the head of Lake Windermere. There will be time here before we rejoin our coach to travel via Thirlmere to Keswick, sitting at the head of Derwentwater. There will be time for lunch before we head back down to the popular village of Grasmere, birthplace of William Wordsworth.
Thursday After breakfast we depart Ulverston for our return journey to Cornwall.
