Holiday Tour Details
Top to Toe Wales Description
Wales is a vast country of many facets. Mountain ranges, lush valleys, rugged coastline, historic towns and ancient castles all invite exploration and our two centred tour offers just this. We delight in the Celtic feel of the southern sparkling blue bays of Pembroke before travelling north to see the rugged peaks of Snowdonia.
Top to Toe Wales Itinerary
Sunday Leaving Cornwall in the morning we travel to Carmarthen and arrive at the Ivy Bush Royal Hotel early in the evening.
Monday This morning we travel to the colourful and quaint resort of Tenby where the old town walls, interesting side streets and superb beaches afford it a lovely holiday feel. We have time for lunch here before we make our way to Picton Castle and Woodland Garden. This is one of Pembrokeshire’s finest stately home and gardens.
Tuesday Today is at leisure to explore Carmarthen. To familiarise ourselves with this lovely county town we have a guided walking tour to discover its long and varied history and culture.
Wednesday Our excursion takes us via St Brides Bay and Newgale Sands to the magical place of St. David’s, birthplace of the patron saint of Wales. St. David’s has a beautiful Cathedral, the smallest in Great Britain, well worth a visit. From St. David’s we head around the Preseli Mountains back to our hotel.
Thursday After breakfast we begin our journey through Wales to our second hotel in the north of this magnificent country. Our journey takes us up through Snowdonia National Park to see the mighty mountains and rugged scenery. We reach the Beaufort Park Hotel later in the afternoon.
Friday We begin our day in the mining town of Llanberis, sitting in the shadow of Mount Snowdon. After a break we head to Beaumaris, a delightful village on the shore of the Isle of Anglesey. In the afternoon we have a boat trip to Puffin Island to see the stunning wildlife and seal colonies.
Saturday Today’s excursion takes us through some lovely Welsh scenery, including the spectacular Horseshoe Pass to the Dee Valley where we join the Rheilffordd Llangollen Railway. Our nostalgic steam powered journey takes us from Carrog to Llangollen and then we board our boat for a cruise over the ‘Stream in the Sky’- the Llangollen Canal – gliding gently along over the country’s biggest navigable viaduct.
Sunday After breakfast we leave our hotel and begin the journey back to Cornwall.
