Holiday Tour Details
TV Trails of Yorkshire Description
The natural beauty of Yorkshire and its surrounding counties provide diverse and often dramatic filming locations to many of our TV favourites. This tour explores a great range of scenic filming locations as well as having an insider view of the TV industry with visits to BBC Media City and ITVs Emmerdale Studios.
TV Trails of Yorkshire Itinerary
Thursday We depart Cornwall in the morning and travel to the Rochdale area where we settle in before dinner.
Friday This morning we follow the trail of the Famous Bronte sisters as we climb over the moors. There will be time for morning coffee at Hebden Bridge before continuing to Haworth. This attractive village is home to the Bronte Parsonage Museum and beautiful St Michaels Church with its Bronte crypt. In the afternoon we take in the scenery of Calderdale, an area famed for many TV greats including Gentleman Jack, Happy Valley and Last Tango in Halifax. In Halifax there will be a break to visit Yorkshires most important secular building The Piece Hall.
Saturday Today we have a two hour Emmerdale studio tour. Our visit takes in both the Emmerdale Studio Experience and ITV Television Centre. We see working sets at both locations and have a photo opportunity on the most iconic sofa in soap-land! See authentic costumes and props, enjoy interactive experiences and visit the great gift shop! During the day we also have a scenic tour of the lovely Yorkshire countryside and break in the Holme Valley, at the picture-postcard town of Holmfirth, aka Last of the Summer Wine.
Sunday Salford Quays is our destination today and here we walk in the footsteps of our favourite celebrities as we explore and see behind the scenes at the BBC Media City UK. The studios are home to favourites such as Blue Peter, Match of the Day, Mastermind and BBC Breakfast and our friendly guides will entertain us as we discover how TV really works! In the afternoon we visit Arley Hall, where the Gardens and the Estate have been used as a location for a wide variety of filming from soaps to dramas and everything in between. Recently it has featured in the hit show Peaky Blinders.
Monday After breakfast we make our way back to Cornwall arriving home during the evening.
