Wye Valley & Waterways Itinerary
Monday Departing Cornwall in the morning we make our way towards the Severn crossing. We enjoy a lunch break en route and arrive at the Bells Hotel later in the day.
Tuesday Our day will be spent in the lovely Wye Valley. Inspiration to many artists, the area is known for its natural river scenery and wooded expanses. Our day will include a pleasurable cruise past Symonds Yat on the River Wye and a lunch break in the lovely town of Ross-on-Wye and return to Coleford in the afternoon.
Wednesday A scenic day today as we visit the lovely town of Hereford, a lovely small city which is home to a beautiful Cathedral housing the Mappa Mundi. Later we follow part of the black and white trail, taking in a number of historic villages characterised by the large number of timbered and half-timbered houses dating from medieval times.
Thursday Today we visit the Slimbridge Wetland Centre, a site of worldwide importance and natural beauty. The lovely reserve is focused on the preservation of freshwater wetlands and cares for ducks, geese, flamingos and swans. We also visit the National Waterways Museum at Gloucester which charters the fascinating 200-year history of the docks and the Gloucester and Sharpness Canal.
Friday After breakfast we leave our hotel and head to Cheddar Gorge where you can explore one of Britain’s most spectacular natural landmarks and have lunch before returning to Cornwall.
