Itinerary
Scotland and The Isle of Lewis Itinerary
Tuesday We depart Cornwall and travel to the Preston area where we enjoy an overnight stay.
Wednesday After breakfast we continue north travelling via the Perthshire Tourist Route. This scenic journey takes us via Crieff, Aberfeldy and Loch Tay before reaching the Killin Hotel.
Thursday A beautiful day of Scottish scenery today as we head for the famous fishing town of Oban, gateway to the isles. There will be time to explore and have lunch before we embark on a tour travelling south via Lochgilphead and then following the west shores of Loch Fyne to Inveraray. Our final highlight is driving past Loch Lomond before returning to our hotel.
Friday We have an early start today and travel onto the Inner Hebrides by crossing the Skye Bridge to the beautiful Isle of Skye. Here we board the ferry from Uig to Tarbert on Harris, the largest island in the Outer Hebrides. Once on this mountainous island we travel to Stornoway and settle into the Caladh Inn.
Saturday Today we enjoy a tour of Lewis with a local guide to explore the fantastic scenery on the largest of the Western Isles. Home to some of the most important seabird colonies in the UK, it is also a haven to all forms of wildlife. During our circular tour we visit Carloway Broch, an ancient Iron Age fortification and Gearrannan Blackhouse Village, here we step back in time and experience the way of life in a typical crofting township of the nineteenth century.
Sunday This morning we have an early breakfast and board our ferry to Ullapool. Arriving back on the mainland mid morning, we head for the Highland town of Inverness where we have time to browse and take a leisurely lunch. In the afternoon we travel to the picturesque town of Pitlochry and settle into the Fishers Hotel.
Monday Our day is at leisure to explore the charming Scottish town of Pitlochry at our own pace. Connect with nature, peruse its history or visit the famous dam and fish ladder.
Tuesday Leaving Pitlochry we begin our journey home and have an overnight stop at the Mercure Blackburn Dunkenhalgh Hotel.
Wednesday We leave the Mercure Hotel and make our way back to Cornwall arriving home during the evening.
